Day 5

We woke with a tear in our eye – turns out that it was just dust. But it became a reality at the end of the day when school finished, and we had to say goodbye to the students in our classes. Walking under the blazing Kununurra sun, we trotted over to the Police Station. After receiving an informative tour of the lock-up and the interrogation room we skipped over for our final day at school. As we began our last first period the reality that our experience of Kununurra was coming to an end dawned on us, so we made sure to make most of our time.  The highlights of the school day included seeing the kids with their bright yellow shirts, the RUOK day events included kicking footys into bins, three-point comp and the cupcake stand. As time was ticking, the kids from our classes were all eager to present us heartfelt presents like letters, drawings, and hugs.

Finally, the school’s day came to an end and we hopped in the whip and floored it across the town to the art gallery. The artwork was exceptional viewing as we strolled along. Next, we hiked up Kelly’s Knob and soaked up the view. To finish our day off we went for our final destination, Swim beach. Once again dodging not one but 2 freshwater crocs. Back at camp we wrapped up the week that was with a freddo ice cream cake for birthday girl Hannah, and finished up with our evening card game.

Ta from Muna and Larso.
